DISNEYANA TRIP -- DAY ONE Monday is a travel day for both Phil and Steve. Phil flies in from New Jersey early on Monday morning, arriving in Orlando at 11AM. He's made this WDW trip a few times before, so navigating the ins and outs of the Orlando Airport and picking up the rental car are pretty well automatic. The itinerary for the first day is laid out pretty solid. It's important to go directly to the parks and the do the attractions that you for sure don't want to miss. Yes, there's better part of a week to do everything. But what if the world ended tomorrow and you didn't get that one last ride on the "Rockin' Roller Coaster?" REGISTER AT THE CONVENTION -- Step one -- sign-in with the Disneyana Convention. This is scheduled for 2PM at the Contemporary Hotel. And important because registering gets you your theme park passes for the week. Click here for a view of the Contemporary Hotel from a military satellite. Look close and you might be able to see our car on the parking lot. PROCEED TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM -- Before entering, proceed to the official Miksad Brick on the "Walk Around the World" to perform the official "Cleanup Ceremony." I think this involves incense and some chanting. Then it's on inside to the Main Street Exposition Center, the Haunted Mansion, Alien Encounter, and of course, Space Mountain.
TO EPCOT -- The first night is at EPCOT 2000. After dinner get a FastPass for GM's Test Track. Then walk "Around the World" ShowCase and get a good viewing spot for the Millenium Parade and Illuminations fireworks finale. STEVE ARRIVES -- Steve is flying in from Minnesota on Monday night. Phil will drive out to the airport to pick him up, right after "Illuminations." The inbound flight lands about an hour after the last aerial shell. The Contemporary Hotel -- This is our first night at the Contemporary Hotel. We'll probably be up late telling jokes and ghost stories. Do they have "Magic Fingers" at the Contemporary?
